Hideez Dongle Installation via Setup Application

Step-by-step guide to configure Hideez Dongle via Setup App on macOS.

If you haven't purchased the Hideez Bluetooth Dongle yet, you can evaluate whether it will resolve your Mac's Bluetooth issues by downloading and running the Hideez Dongle Setup application. This utility helps identify whether the problem stems from internal hardware limitations or can be fixed by using the dongle.

Preconditions

Before you begin, make sure the following requirements are met:

  • Your Mac is running macOS Ventura (13.0) or later.

  • The Hideez Setup Application is downloaded and ready to use.

  • You have a free USB port to plug in the Hideez Dongle.

  • Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac.

  • You have Administrator rights on the computer.

Set up the Dongle using the application

The Hideez Dongle is compatible with both Intel-based Macs and Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3).

Step 1: Download and Install the Hideez Dongle Setup App

  • Download the installer: Hideez Dongle Setup.dmg

  • Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Step 2: Insert the Dongle into a USB Port

  • Insert the Bluetooth dongle into an available USB port on your Mac.

Step 3: Launch the Application

  • Open the Hideez Dongle Setup app from your Applications folder.

  • If prompted, grant the necessary permissions for the app to access Bluetooth settings.

Step 4: Click Setup

  • Follow the on-screen prompts in the application to complete the configuration.

  • Enter your user password if requested.

Step 5: Restart Your Mac

  • Restart your Mac to apply the changes.

Step 6: Verify Configuration

  • After your Mac restarts, go to System Preferences → Bluetooth and ensure the external dongle is selected as the active Bluetooth device.

Step 7: Turn on Bluetooth (if needed)

  • If Bluetooth is turned off, toggle it on in System Preferences → Bluetooth.

Note: On macOS Monterey, you may need to manually allow the application in System Preferences → Security & Privacy under the General tab.
